Have you heard of the new “low profile” chest tubes by Mila? Check out this VetGirl video to learn how to place these minimally invasive thoracostomy tubes in veterinary patients! This may help improvement management in your dyspneic patients who aren’t stable enough for anesthesia for traditional chest tube placement.

  1. this is not a low profile tube, it is simply a thoracic catheter, not a chest tube of any sort. There is no subcutaneous tunnel as for a chest tube. if it is indwelling, you should use a drape as well as the seldinger technique just like you do for catheterization of a vein or the urethra.
