In this VETgirl webinar, Dr. Wendy Vaala, DACVIM (LA) will review equine influenza. Due to its changing surface proteins, short incubation period, and surprising shift in patient demographics, equine influenza (EI) remains an important threat to the horse industry.

Using data from the an ongoing, 10-year respiratory biosurveillance program, this lecture will review the relevance of antigenic drift, spectrum of clinical signs, age range and vaccination status of EI (+) horses and seasonal trends for equine influenza outbreaks. Risk factors, vaccination options and practical protocol considerations will be discussed for horses of various ages and disciplines.
