Dr. Kari Santoro-Beer, DVM, DACVECC is thrilled to be on faculty as part of the VETgirl team. Dr. Santoro-Beer is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency Critical Care (DACVECC), and is one of approximately 500 veterinary specialists in her field. Dr. Santoro-Beer obtained her veterinary degree from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Following veterinary school, Dr. Santoro-Beer completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, where she also completed her three year residency in emergency and critical care. She has been published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, and is actively involved in research and textbook contributions. She is currently on faculty at Michigan State University as an assistant professor in emergency/critical care. Dr. Santoro-Beer lectures in emergency and critical care, and has spoken at several IVECCS conferences. In her free time, Dr. Beer enjoys distance running, competing in triathlons, cooking and traveling.
