  1. I have found using an empty gel cap (size 1 is a good all purpose size) to put medication in works excellently for pilling cats. This way the cat is less likely to taste the medication!
I encourage clients to start with Cosequin/Dasuquin with their cat to work on training the cat on accepting medication. Due to the high incidence of OA in cats it is worth the effort. Then when the cat gets a bout of FIC, or needs methimazole to treat hyperthyroidism, etc. the medication process is not going to add to the stress or be an extra obstacle to successful treatment/management.
It is a rare cat who cannot be trained to accept encapsulated medication, from my experience.
