June 21, 2016: VETgirl Real-Life Rounds: The use of FAST3 ultrasound in veterinary medicine

VETgirl understands that ivory tower medicine is not available to most, and not necessary for many. We know how to practice street medicine. Practicing real life medicine is tough and we understand that we are all in the trenches together. For VETgirl ELITE members only, we present VETgirl Real-Life Rounds. Real-Life Rounds will be an interactive session where VETgirl ELITE members will have the opportunity to interact with specialists during informal, learning-oriented, "cage-side" rounds.

Sonography performed by veterinarians is rapidly becoming the initial diagnostic tool of choice following abdominal trauma. Over the past several years, the focused assessment by sonography in trauma (FAST) examination of the abdomen has been developed and validated in our small animal patients. This Real-Life-Rounds will review the FAST3 scan and discuss how this can be a life saving, diagnostic tool for our patients.
