As a first-generation American born to immigrant Chinese parents, I’ve been subjected to microaggression all my life. The uptick in anti-Asian discrimination from SARS-CoV2, along with the senseless death of George Floyd in my home town, has been emotionally fatiguing.

Garret and I feel blessed that our Penn Vet training has exposed us to quality and excellence in a diverse, urban environment. As a person of color and a small business owner with a fellow minority, we are honored to give back to University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine to help promote diversity, equality and inclusion in our veterinary field.

We at VETgirl believe in being compassionate and inclusive to all, and have pledged a 10-year commitment to Penn Vet Medicine to create the “VETgirl Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Scholarship.”
