Mary Novak

University of Minnesota
Class of 2027

My name is Mary Antonie Novak, and I was named after both of my grandmas. Originally from Carson City, NV (in the shadow of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range), I lived in Lewistown, MT (near Judith Mountain and the Big Snowy Mountains) for about three years before getting into the University of Minnesota’s 2+2 Professional Program of Veterinary Medicine with South Dakota State University. This bravehearted Western gal is now living out her third year of veterinary school in St. Paul, Minnesota. It has been a true blessing to come to know and love the Midwest during this season of life. Upon graduating, I hope to return to where there are mountains, wild forget-me-nots, and elk, to work as a thoroughly mixed animal practitioner.
I am a big believer in becoming/being a lifelong learner. It is our responsibility as veterinarians to provide up-to-date, competent care. To practice medicine to the utmost of our abilities. VETgirl is an excellent resource and community that helps in this endeavor. I am honored to be working as their student representative.

Fun Fact: My roller derby name is Smother Mary!
