Julie A. Churchill

DVM, PhD, Diplomate DACIM-Nutrition

Dr. Churchill is a Professor at the UNM CVM and a diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine-Nutrition. She completed two residencies and her Ph.D. at the U of M (internal medicine and clinical nutrition) before taking a faculty position there. She is passionate about all aspects of small animal clinical nutrition including the vital role of addressing changes in the nutritional needs of patients throughout life during health and disease.

She loves teaching in both the clinic and the classroom, seeing patients and mentoring students, and trying to find better ways to teach nutrition and make it easier for healthcare teams to integrate into the care of all patients. Dr. Churchill is equally passionate about the well-being and mental health of veterinary healthcare teams. She received the MVMA Outstanding faculty award in 2022.
