In this VETgirl online veterinary continuing education video, we demonstrate how to surgically scrub prior to surgery. This is a procedure veterinarians must feel comfortable doing to ensure appropriate aseptic technique. In this video, we demonstrate two different methods to scrub using chlorhexidine. 1. Great video! I have seen so many vets switch from the 4% Chlorhexidine to the 3M Avagard, I was told the scrub brushes can cause micro abrasions in your skin and gloves are not 100% “sealed” and can be passed to patients. I think they’re both affective and appropriate for surgical prep. I think it is more preference.
