In this VETgirl online veterinary continuing education video, we demonstrate how to make a tape muzzle for medical management of jaw fractures in dogs. This should only be used based on a minimally displaced jaw fracture, with a compliant dog and owner, and requires frequent follow up care. When in doubt, consult with a board-certified veterinary dentist!

    • It’s only for medical reasons – it’s loose enough to eat and drink but typically requires canned food as they typically have jaw fractures.

  1. How in the world did you make this so easily without the tape sticking to everything?? I am awful at this….

  2. How do you make a tiny muzzle for Boston terreira when their nose is so small. Can you recommend the correct tape to use that won’t create a itch on their nose and won’t be easy for her to remove. It just slips off her tiny nose when she manages to rub it against the floor
