What's the difference and when do you give what?
In this VetGirl 2-hour webinar, we reviewed transfusion medicine in general practice and in the emergency room. The use of fresh frozen plasma (FFP), whole blood (WB), frozen plasma (FP), packed red blood cells (PRBC), and other ancillary therapy (e.g., cryoprecipitate, platelet transfusions, etc.) were reviewed. We also discussed the indications and contraindications for autotransfusions. The second hour of the lecture was a case-based approach on what types or doses of transfusions should be utilized.
