  1. Great webinar. I had to watch this one because the concept of low dose/volume vaccines came onto my radar in a completely misconstrued and unfortunate context.

Over the past 2-3 years I have seen numerous cases of parvo in puppies that were vaccinated by their family vet with “half dose vaccines.” These were not special formulations like Elanco’s, but were conventional vaccines (Merial, Nobivac, etc.) that were administered at half the recommended dose and volume. With the term “low dose/low volume vaccine,” it worries me that there are vets out there not reading the fine print, and thinking it is ok to literally draw up a full 1 ml dose of a vaccine and then split it between two puppies at 0.5 ml each, because I am actually seeing this happening. I think we need a new name for this new generation of vaccines in order to prevent misinterpretation.

Even though I work only in emergency and can’t remember the last time I administered a vaccine, I couldn’t contain my curiosity when I saw the title if the webinar. I am so glad you posted this -very informative as always. Thank you!
