  1. Hi guys,

Curious if it’s possible to ask Dr. Reinstein a question if I did this as an on-demand lecture?

    If so…

I see in her video to demonstrate a Schirmer tear test, she places the strip in the middle of the eyelids/centrally. Does it make a difference in the accuracy of the readings if the strip is placed more laterally/medially? I have been placing it more laterally, close to the lateral canthus, as it seems to be less irritating and better tolerated by the patients and want to make sure I’m not doing it wrong!

Also, it made me question what exactly are we trying to measure, the patient’s normal tear production at rest, or it’s tear production when stimulated by an irritating stimulus?

    Thanks!

    George
