In this two-hour lecture by Garret Pachtinger, VMD, DACVECC and Justine A. Lee, DVM, DACVECC, DABT we reviewed acute kidney injury (AKI) common urinary tract emergencies in dogs and cats with emphasis on basic pathophysiology, diagnosis and emergency management of these cases. A review of ethylene glycol (EG) toxicosis, feline urethral obstruction (FUO), and uroabdomen was reviewed and presented in a case-oriented manner.

    A quick question, more so on physiology than anything else.

    What is the physiological reason for a patient (such as Harper) who has been consistently Oligouric/Anuric then beginning to pee by the bucket load and instantly in need of 5L bags. Was it simply a case of the renal tubules having healed and now functioning?

    Any clarification on Harpers case would be amazing.
