Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome: Part 3 | Dr. Lisa Radosta | VETgirl Veterinary CE Podcasts

Today’s VETgirl online veterinary continuing education podcast is by veterinary behaviorist, Dr. Lisa Radosta from Florida Veterinary Behavior Service on Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome (CDS) or Canine Cognitive Dysfunction (CCD); these terms are often used interchangeably. In Part 3 of 3, we discuss medications and their role in the treatment of CCD.

Dogs with CCD response well to environmental changes (e.g., riding in the car, walking to the mailbox, food toys, etc.) and medications (e.g., Anipryl)  when needed. Note that some of these medications (specifically Anipryl) have many contraindications that you have to be aware of (e.g., like giving with drugs such as tramadol, trazodone, Clomicalm, amitraz collars, flea and tick medications that are MOA inhibitors, etc.). Find out more in Part 3 of 3 with Dr. Radosta!
