In this VETgirl online veterinary continuing education video blog, we demonstrate how to place a triple lumen central line in our veterinary patients. In this step-by-step video, we show how this can be easily done, using sedation, sterile technique, placement of a jugular catheter, and using an over-the-wire technique. This is ideal for patients who require frequent phlebotomy or who require multiple catheter ports. This patient was a diabetic ketoacidotic patient who required frequent blood glucose monitoring.

  1. Thanks so much for your video and easy step-by-step. I used it to prepare myself for this new skill less than a year ago, and now use it as a “pre-read” to teach others.
